Gateway - Floyd-Bennet Field
A National Park On Our Shoreline
Hey - I always though it would be a good place for a Drive in Movie Theater, but what do I know that the UA doesn't?
Drive out to the edge of Flatbush Avenue, past Kings Plaza, to the Gil Hodges
Memorial Bridge, and you to run into Floyd Bennet Field, part of the
Gateway National Park system. Many famous airship voyages started from these
hangers. Howard Hughs was made famous at this busy Brooklyn Airport.
Today you will see the Radio Plane Society jockying model planes for airspace
while Jumbo Jets from JFK screem overhead. There is camping here, and that was a Golf Course and Batting Range you saw across the street.

I don't recommend the shorts.
The wide waterfront on Jamacia Bay presents Brooklyn many year round opertunities for fun, exploration and adventure. Besides Plum Beach and Canarsie Pier, the Mariana at Gateway allows year long docking of private vessels. The Bicycle trails are being refurbished along the Belt Parkway, the area is part of one of the great bird reserves of the East Coast.
